Mimosa Cake

Have you tried our Mimosa cake yet? It's one of our March Seasonal Cakes (more about seasonal cakes in this post), and also has an important historic tie.

The Mimosa cake was created in honor of International Women's Day (which eventually rolled into Women's History Month)....we'll be celebrating women all month! The cake was invented in Italy 1946 specifically for the holiday. The cake features double layers of our classic sponge cake plus a wonderful vanilla custard. We then take a third layer of sponge cake, and dice it into playful cubes to create a sunny dome.

Why the name Mimosa? Because the cake itself is modeled after the tiny yellow mimosa flowers (shown in the photo above). These bright flowers are seen as a symbol of hope and joy. They also happen to bloom all over Italy in early March, right in time for the holiday. Make sure you come by our boutiques this month to try this cake. It's an especially delightful creation, and one that we look forward to all year long.

P.S. This cake is also available for NYC Delivery and online pre-order (to pickup in boutiques).
